It is with profound sadness that we announce the transition of our beloved Mecca Bey. Mecca is the soul of our organization. Her sweet, warm spirit was focused on healing our community through food. A co-founder of Sistas In The Village Farm, she put her hands in the soil and grew to become a force in the farming community across Illinois. Always learning, growing and having fun. She was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother and sista to so many. We will be forever grateful for her being shared with Englewood and Chicago. She was the midwife that helped birth GGE into the world. We will share updates as we gather together to memorialize and celebrate her life. With so much love and gratitude, We LOVE you Mecca Bey. We will forever call your name and honor you in all we do.
