the squish has arrived 🤍 6 weeks early so we've made a 2nd home at the NICU but she's doing so well. Feeling endlessly thankful for the doctors & nurses who took care of both me & continue to take care of her. And for my super hero supportive husband throughout this entire pregnancy. short story long - I found out at 20 weeks I had placenta previa and suspected placenta accreta (a rare but scary pregnancy complication)- key word being *suspected* because it couldn't be confirmed until surgery... & was told the safest delivery would be a scheduled c-section at 34 weeks. I went into the operating room of almost 20 nurses & doctors prepared for the worst not knowing if I'd end up losing my uterus (dr told me I had 2/3 chance) or have extreme blood loss due to accreta but, once they were in there, I only heard good news after good news (I didn't have accreta after all, previa only) and I am just so thankful to have had a medical team who took every precaution possible even though we also ended up having a better than expected outcome. These last 14 weeks have been filled with worry about how this would all go but I am just so thankful to be on the other side of this pregnancy with a safe baby squish & and a whole new appreciation for life and health. Now the focus is getting her home so so soon 💕
