“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?” On March 13th I celebrated the start of a new year of life and the following day, on March 14th, I was suddenly faced with a huge decision when I was called into a meeting at work. There I learned that by accepting paid social media sponsorships in my capacity as a beauty content creator I was in violation of the firm’s “outside of work activities” policy which prohibits attorneys from accepting any kind of work, both legal and non-legal, and that I absolutely could not continue my online platform in the way that I had been. There were other factors that suggested that my strong social media presence in general would present a level of concern to my work at the firm and in the profession. I simply could not fathom the idea of so suddenly abandoning something of my own that I’ve spent years building but also something that was a source of excitement and fulfillment in ways that my work at the firm was not. So on March 17th I submitted a letter of my immediate resignation. I’m still in some disbelief about everything that happened and the sudden change in course my life has taken. I lost a few pounds and lot of sleep over this decision 😅 and I’m probably going to be processing it all for a bit. But I’m not inclined to believe this timing was a coincidence and I’m excited to experience a new beginning. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to turn what feels like something that happened to me, into something that happened for me and for my good. I have the luxury of now devoting my undivided attention to a passion of mine, so even now—especially now—I’m thankful. I trust God through everything. He is always so faithful and so kind. And I wholeheartedly believe He is authoring what is my greatest possible history in the making. And if this part in the story just means that at the end of the day He undoubtedly gets all the glory? I’ll take it.
