October marks the beginning of breast cancer month and I’m proud to be flying the flag with the @lorraine team this month on Tuesday 4th October for this disease that affects 1 in 8 women and approximately 400 men a year. #changeandcheck Today (and everyday) 31 people will die of secondary breast cancer. Secondary or metastatic breast cancer is where breast cancer cells have spread from the breast to other places such as the brain, bone, lungs and liver. They can cause a variety of symptoms depending on where the cancer has spread but also generalised nausea, weight loss and tiredness. 35000 people are living with secondary breast cancer and 5% of cases diagnosed will already be secondary cancer. There is a lack of awareness and research with regard to secondary cancer and so much needs work to be done in this field.
