I have to tell this story about when we went to Chichén Itzá. We had it all planned out but somehow we got there when they were closing. We had driven 4 hours through Mexico with our kids and dear friend @blake_eiermann so we decided to grab a hotel for the night with nothing on us except the diaper bag. Although it seemed like such a fail, it ended up being one of my most treasured memories. The hotel right next to the park was actually lovely, had the coolest dancing entertainment during dinner and a great big swimming pool with the most incredible Cherry Piña Coladas. We lounged in the pool while the sun set and learned about the still very active Mayan community nearby. We learned a few Mayan words. One of the workers father was Mayan and told how his father used sap from a plant to heal wounds. That it was better than any western remedy. In the morning, we had breakfast served to us outdoors with local foods from scratch. The coffee was amazing. I love how our family turns little failures into fun adventures. ✨
