When I was suffering with depression knowing someone would listen to me and hear me made all the difference. That’s why I was eager to be part of a new mental health campaign called ‘Lend An Ear’ with @the_photography_movement, @Harlequins and @HarlequinsWomen.
Giant pictures of ears are appearing on billboards across London, featuring some of the best rugby players in the country including Danny Care (@dannycare9), Marcus Smith (@marcussmith10), Joe Marler (@joemarler17) and Rachael Burford (@rachaelburf12).
Inspired by Joe Marler’s wonderfully gnarled ears @scottshillum approached me with an idea: “what if we create beautiful artistic images of rugby players ears?” How could I say no to that? I was in.
A few months later we find ourselves setting up at the Harlequins training ground eager to capture the folds, creases and uniqueness of some of the worlds best rugby players lobes.
"The biggest gift you can give people is your time" - Tabai Matson (@tabaimatson), Harlequins Head Coach.
We hope the campaign will help show people the power of listening, and it is supported by a website [www.lendanear.club] where people can learn how to be a better listener.
"You don’t have to solve it but you gotta listen" – Marcus Smith, @englandrugby and Harlequins player
