#DidYouKnow that Banana palms are not, in fact, palms? 🌿 They are actually perennial herbs! The banana plant is the largest herbaceous flowering plant. Gingers, heliconias and bird-of-paradise flowers are distant relatives. 🍌💚 The large, glossy, tropical leaves of banana plants do not have branching veins, so can easily tear in wind and will split into the familiar frond look 🌴 When whole, they are waterproof, and have been utilized by humans for thousands of years. 💧 Photo by @imdad_barbhuyan
