Today marks one month that LOVE IN THE TIME OF SERIAL KILLERS has been out!
It's also been one month since the release of its birthday bud, THE FEELING OF FALLING IN LOVE by @mason_deaver
The way I loved this book, I'm not even sure I'm able to fully describe. Here are three things that struck me in particular:
1. The main character, Neil, is so bratty and sharp and seemingly unlikeable but actually completely vulnerable and loveable. I would've been happy reading nothing but Neil's observations about the world and people around him, but then there was also such a lovely build to his relationship with Wyatt, who goes from quasi-annoying roommate to fake wedding date to a real, genuine love interest.
2. There was an entire PAGE where Neil and Wyatt listened to and discussed Hayley Williams' solo music on a plane. NO WONDER THIS BOOK IS CALLED THE FEELING OF FALLING IN LOVE BECAUSE THAT WAS ME IN REAL TIME WHILE I READ PAGE 62 OF THIS BOOK.
3. The Gossip Girl-esque vibes of Neil's rich family were impeccable. Overall, the book just felt super fresh and breezy and fun, while also exploring deeper ideas about gender, sexuality, and the very human experience of opening yourself up to love and heartbreak. Oooof, this book was just super good.
There are a few content warnings for the book, including transphobia, homophobia, and indirect dead naming of a character. For a more detailed list of content warnings, visit https://www.masondeaverwrites.com/content-warnings-tfofil
