💀 Not long ago, facial anatomy has added the 3. dimension to the standard 2-dimensional understanding. The third dimension was depth, in a x- and y-coordinate system this would be the z-axis. Clinically, it means that there is something below the skin and the depth of anatomic structures matter for safety and aesthetic outcome. But now, the next dimension needs to be added to complete our understanding: The 4. Dimension which is the factor time. All 3-dimensional structures undergo time related changes during aging or during facial movements. The corners of the mouth have a different location when we smile, of course 🙂. But this applies to all facial structures and their time related changes are clinically relevant. Asking patients to perform facial animation or facial muscle contractions will give you a better understanding of what lies below the skin and how to treat safer and more precise. @cotofanaanatomy . . . #CotofanaAnatomy #anatomy #facialanatomy #ProfessorSebastianCotofana #anatomist
