NEW WORK: Best Buy “Hey Teachers” national broadcast tv spot with director @jacksontisi for @fela.tv 💪🏼 Had a blast working on this. I’m always up for a challenge and love brainstorming different shot/rig ideas. Pre-production is often my favourite part of the process. From the start, Jacksons original vision/treatment was super visceral and had some sweet in camera transitions in mind already + some to still be figured out which made this so fun. Slide 1: Commercial spot Slide 2-7: Selected stills from spot Slide 8: Pre-production transition test (shot on iphone) Slide 9: Camera rig for horizontal flip transition Slide 10: Dolly rig for piano key probe shot Since there was so many in camera transitions on this I wanted to do a quick test video ahead of the shoot to figure out timing, pacing and make sure all the shots flowed seamlessly together. So, I shot and put together a small test video which I shot all on my iPhone (Slide 8) in pre production to figure out our rough in/out points and get an idea of what our technical requirements were for each shot. A few shots were cut in the end but this was a hugely helpful process since it not only helped me easily communicate the shot ideas to my key grip @ten_01 and 2nd unit team @dankniazi , @scottiewat & @filmstreet11 when brainstorming our rigs together, but also help visualize the spot in it’s entirely with our director @jacksontisi (who for this job had to stream in virtually via zoom).
