my first single is out under my own name, Skyler Acord, and it’s called knew it all along!! cuz that’s what i say a bunch of times in the chorus!! this demo had been floating around for years until jan 2020 when i flew to LA to build out my original piano demo with my twin brother @lophiile. (yes we’re actually twins, and yes we rhyme, i kno i kno) that initial week was incredibly enlightening for me as an artist trying to find my voice. i knew what i needed but had no idea how to get there. being biracial and having to claw for everything that was mine in a white dominated scene or being dismissed as too alt or weird in a black dominated scene left me feeling homeless. my world was in between, like in between blues and greens in a viridian world. id never heard all the things i grew up on in one piece of music. i wanted to hear black metal, rnb, shoegaze, quiet storm, post punk, dream pop etc all in the same room. that’s a lot of different influences to track down, which is where my brother ty comes in. that man really honed in my focus and pushed me to live in the viridian, reminding me of the sounds and cultures that made me who i am as a cultural nomad. i’m proud of who i am and this music is a direct extension of it, and there is so so so much more to come. fr. my dropbox is bloated af. - - tl;dr: stream knew it all along
