No war can stop me from playing.⁠ ⁠ Maria Romanchenko: Ukrainian footballer, student, bartender, refugee, Netherlands⁠ ⁠ Position: Striker⁠ ⁠ Discovering professional women’s football in Ukraine was life-changing for Romanchenko, who moved to Odessa from her hometown Enakievo aged 11. The striker started playing for FC Chornomorets Odessa and was named top scorer in the U17 Championship. When war broke out earlier this year, the 19-year-old fled to the Netherlands and is currently with her aunt. Training to go pro while studying web design at university online and working as a bartender, Romanchenko also expresses herself playing the guitar.
