I’m having trouble finding the words. They’re about the unexpected... the unexpected rewards, relationships, and rubbing of shoulders with others who leave a mark on your life. There are unexpected rewards on the 1000 Hours Outside journey including a life that’s filled with celebration - with tracker charts that bear your hand print of the year and cakes and sparklers and leaf piles formed into milestone numbers. The premise is simple but the impact is profound, in more ways than you could ever realize when you first start out. I have few words to describe the impact I’ve felt over the years, imagining the unbelievable honor of playing a small role in the life story of someone else. I almost always tear up when I see pictures like these. So my encouragement is two fold. 1. Share your life. Share the things that may seem inconsequential (like trying to get outside each year for a certain number of hours). You just don’t know what will come of it so you can’t quit. Keep going. 2. Join in! Flood your life with the memorable, the hands-on, the real, and the unexpected. Thanks for listening.
