⁣I’ve needed a minute to think about what I share and how I share on this platform. I’ve gone back and forth so much on the topic of Black Women and Luxury. ⠀ ⠀ I’ve honestly felt conflicted because I love seeing Black women succeed and have amazing experiences - luxury or otherwise. I love that there’s been a movement towards self-love, self-care, self appreciation, catering to not just our needs but to our wants. ⠀ ⠀ And while I don’t feel personally responsible for anyone’s pocket book, I feel the need to also say- dear sisters, please enjoy your life, but be smart and proceed with caution. This is a tough season for many, and none of this glam life is worth debt. ⠀ ⠀ You can find enjoyment from amazing experiences that don’t have to cost a fortune. There is so much beauty in things that don’t break the bank. ⠀ ⠀ It took me a long time to start being financially smart. I encourage you to seek real wealth (for me that's financial security for my kids, that's owning real property; real wealth may mean different to you). ⠀ ⠀ I will continue to share brilliant moments like this one in the Maldives, because I have worked hard for them, and I am an example of what is possible. And as black women, when traditonal media struggled to show our beauty, our diversity, our abilities, our success- we've been able to find real examples of that in the community here. ⠀ ⠀ So, the images and the reels are glorious and worth sharing, loving, celebrating, but none of this exists in a vacuum. Hard work, smart choices (cutting out wasteful spending so you can have what you really want & deserve), remembering what’s important, knowing what truly makes you happy. It’s very easy to be distracted - remember your true joy and your real goals.⠀ ⠀ And that's my two cents. 🤎 (didn’t mean to serve long lecture, just feeling Big sis energy).
