I loved when "People" gave its full cover on a regular issue to a Golden Age who had just died — it seemed a fitting sign of respect, and it taught people who these icons were, what their talents were, why they should be and would be missed. I remember sometimes a death would conflict with another major event, leading to the dreaded cover inset. I think "People" shied away from this for many years, possibly because sales were soft on deaths, and/or to publish a tribute issue.
