Ever since a zoom conversation on the occasion of my Separatrix exhibition at Gagosian, Alexander Kluge and me have been working on a very special book revolving around the concept of the Separatrix.⁠ ⁠ What started out as an idea for a small book, grew into an amazingly manifold universe of exchanged thoughts and ideas manifest in watercolours, drawings, collages, texts, filmstills and even films – all tightly packed onto 704 pages of very thin paper in pocket format.⁠ ⁠ In the beginning I ́ve painted intimate watercolors into a small sketchbook to which Alexander then again responded.⁠ He sent back collages and films, to which I again responded with new drawings and watercolors. ⁠ ⁠ Like this, it went back and forth many times, until Alexander pulled the most important concepts together with a set of literary texts waving through and commenting the image sequences. The collaboration shows, where incompatibilities meet, there is not just a border, but the two incompatibilities form tiny, infinitesimal embassys of the one in the other – to say it with Leibnitz’ words.
