Pakistan's extreme flooding is climate injustice at its most overt. As you're reading this, a third of Pakistan is underwater. Extreme flooding from human-caused climate change has killed at least 1,136 people, with tens of millions becoming homeless. Rain is 780% above average; lives and livelihoods have been washed away. The UN's Secretary General, Antonio Guterres has called it a 'monsoon on steroids.' But whilst Pakistan is one of the most vulnerable countries to global warming, it produces less than 1% of CO2 emissions. "Let's stop sleepwalking towards the destruction of our planet by climate change. Today, it's Pakistan. Tomorrow, it could be your country," said Guterres as he launched a $160m appeal. Pakistan is in need of funding for shelter, food and medicine. Below and at the link in our bio, we have shared some organisations that you can support today. The flooding also has deep, direct impact on the textile and garment industries that we at @ecoage are working to transform, specifically cotton farmers, who will lose an estimated 45% of their crops this year. We hope to lend some support. @pakistanredcrescentofficial @edhi.foundation @asani_trust @akhuwatofficial Sources: @bbcnews, @business.standard, @guardian 📸 Images via: Fayaz Aziz, Fida Hussain, Asif Hassan, Getty, Reuters . . . #pakistanfloods #globalwarmingawareness #helppakistan #climatechangeawareness #ecoeducation #fastfashion #overconsumption #renewableresources #regenerativefarming #climatechange #ecoage
