All the popular adages + sage insights we so confidently share from our sofas get told *on the other side* of the throughs of tragedy that inform them. . Because when you’re fighting for your life or face to face with the lion- you’re likely too busy with the immediacy of the task for book writing. . Words about “tenacity”, “seeking adversity”... “challenge = change”... are all fluffy, peacetime conversation. . Built inside of this now obvious observation is the overlooked notion- that when you’re in a flat out dogfight in your life or your world is collapsing... there are no clever quips, memes, or cheeky adages to get you through. . It’s just you + the lion. . Don’t mistake this for a hand me down meme- hard times and adversity do NOT make people better. . I’ve witnessed first-hand how they can just as easily destroy people’s lives, turn dreams to dust, or turn them into jaded, bitter assholes. . But, win or lose- It’s only after the battle when the dust settles... on accurately reflecting on hard times, lessons learned, should the opportunity to change or improve present itself. .
