One evening, deep in the heart of Namibia, the wild landscape spilled free right in front of our accommodation, and though I was exhausted from the long day’s travel I recognised the call to create... the inner energy that longed to be released. How I’d missed that feeling! . @brandinicolephoto kindly accepted to be my model, my desert muse, and together, piece by piece, we pulled together the styling. . Whenever I travel I always bring something with me. Lately I’ve been traveling with fabrics, dresses, headpieces, jewelry, and props... the lighter and more adaptable the better. I would say I create the best when I don’t have a lot of choices. In the beginning of my photography journey I thrived in quick impromptu shoots and pushing past the challenges and boundaries that they present. This trip allowed me a chance to reconnect back to the vibrance and energy of those early days. . For this shoot I used a long piece of white fabric that I’d brought along with me. I discovered this particular poly chiffon in a fabric store a couple of years ago and it’s become one of the more versatile pieces in my collection. The way it flows and drapes is beautiful. It’s given me the ability to create “outfits” on the go. Something that I’ve really quite enjoyed exploring. . I used a florist gold hoop to help me play with the draping of the fabric against Brandi’s body. I also utilized a few tricks I’d learnt from all my years of wearing saris 😅 . The gold face headpiece is from the incredibly talented @lorysunartistry, and the necklace is from my own collection. We debated whether to use a wig or move forward with Brandi’s natural hair, but in the end we both felt the white wig completed the look. It allowed us to create a character, a role Brandi could get immersed in. . What a wonder it is to create something from really not much and suddenly we’re all transported ✨ .
