Here it is, my 12-hour challenge from the recent episode of @inkmaster! First things first, this is one of the hardest tattoos I have ever done. Color, in general, isn’t easy for me. Color realism is probably the hardest style for me, so naturally, I was pretty stressed going into this. Reaching back into my background in film, I knew that I wanted to play with multiple light sources, in this case, colored light sources, because I knew that this would be something unique that you don’t really see on @inkmaster! I didn’t want to do something simple or easy. I also tend to have beef with color realism sometimes because it can be a little bit copy-paste, the last thing I wanted was for this piece to look like I just slapped it on. Lastly, being a primarily fantasy/surrealism artist, this didn’t really register to me as surrealism, because if I had gotten assigned surrealism, there would have been a spaceship coming out of its head, a spiral staircase leading up to its brain, etc. — to me it’s just a really fun take on realism, but hey!
