WHAT IS THE BEST DIET FOR WEIGHT LOSS.. AND SHOULD YOU FOLLOW THE METABOLIC DIET❓⁣ ⁣ 🔍 If you search the internet for ‘what is the best diet for weight loss’ there are countless results, often promoting weird and wacky diets to lose weight, so it’s no wonder the wheel keeps turning and more diets are coming into fashion! But have you ever heard of the metabolic diet? ⁣ ⁣ I received a question on this in my DM’s recently so I thought I’d share some info, I hope you find it helpful! ⁣⬇️ ⁣ 🥗 The metabolic diet aims to change the way your body metabolises food. It recommends consuming smaller meals throughout the day in the form of 3 main meals & 2 snacks with the aim of helping you to manage hunger better throughout the day.⁣ ⁣ 🥯 Metabolism is the process of turning the food that we eat into energy, and if we have a ‘high’ metabolism, the quicker our body can convert the food into energy, the slower your metabolism, the slower the process, resulting in more nutrients from food being stored as fat. Carbohydrates are the body’s main source of fuel, however if you reduce your carbohydrate intake, your body starts to use fat as it’s preferred energy source. ⁣ ⁣ ⏫ On the metabolic diet, this is with the intent of quickening your body's metabolism and primarily burning fat, instead of storing it. When this happens, your body produces ketones. Studies have found increased blood ketone levels are associated with a decreased appetite, which of course may support a weight loss goal.⁣ ⁣ HOWEVER...⁣ ⁣ ⚠️ Low carb diets can be challenging to adhere to & sustain in the long-term. In order to adjust your metabolism for good, you will need to sustain your weight loss and eating habits for a long period of time. This is often easier said than done as a lack of carbohydrates can make you feel low in energy, unable to recover as well after exercise and can impact physical and cognitive function.⁣ ⁣ 🍎 There is no superior method of weight loss - the key element is a reduction in energy to create a deficit. To ensure the diet is sustainable and promotes good mental & physical well-being, including a range of macro and micronutrients is key!⁣ ⁣ Have you heard of the metabolic diet? 🤔
