the more you scroll, the sadder it gets. at the risk of sounding like a downer, september started off amazingly and then ended horribly. this past month has probably been one of the most emotionally draining months of the year, but it has also reminded me of all the good I did experience. I post this not to illicit sympathy, or to complain, but to serve as a reminder that social media is a highlight reel. in the midst of planning our wedding (shoutout @itsamsam.jpg for the first photo 🫶🏼) which is supposed to be the happiest time of our lives, I’m also learning how to function on medication, work on my mental health, go through tough career choices and changes, and be there for my family in a time of medical crisis. it’s so cliche, but you truly never know what goes on in a person’s life behind their curated posts - this one included. I would say I’m more open than most about these things, but even I choose to leave some horrible specifics out. so, if you’ve ever looked at me or anyone else on social media and envied their life, I’m here to tell you that you’re never getting the full story...and that’s a reminder for myself, too.
