Honoured to share that I was fortunate enough to to take home the award for Best Non-Theatrical Feature Film from the Canadian Society of Cinematographers for my first feature film “The Family”. The last time I attended the CSC awards in person was for my student thesis film “Guion” in 2018 and sharing the same stage, years later, now with an acceptance speech for my first feature film truly felt quite surreal. There’s so many people to thank, but I’d like to start off with a massive thank you to our whole crew and to all the techs who persevered through an intense 19 day shoot. My gaffer @sheldonstein, key grip @brendanjessamine, @itsyoboynorte, camera team @jbhellyea, @_connorjarvie_, + the many others that came out and made this film possible. I owe this award to you. Thank you to the CSC @canadiancinematographer, it’s jury members and my fellow colleagues nominated in my category who’s work I greatly admire. Of course this wouldn’t have been possible without director @westanddan, producer @_adam_booth_, my wonderful team at @seslercompany, Jen Malette, Trevor Huys and Greg Jeffs at @wfw_intl and to my amazing girlfriend and number one supporter @torriwebster. Thank you for supporting this project, for believing in me and for supporting me since the beginning of my career. Last but not least I’d like to thank our colourist @clintonhomuth at Art Jail and DITs @jeffmoghadam and @mark_kudel. With our limited budget Clinton took on this film as a favour to me, worked on it over the weekends in his spare time and built a library of custom luts with me that really helped shaped this film into what it is. I owe the look of this film to them. It truly takes a village to make a film, but I would argue its much more than that. After the long nights, constant battles with mother nature, days of heavy stress and the ups and downs of making an indie filmmaking - it’s only fitting to call them all family.
