VIEWING SUNLIGHT: THEN & NOW• - In the 1930s “baby cages” were used to ensure that apartment dwelling babies saw enough sunlight. There was an intuitive (and accurate) understanding that sunlight was important for health, sleep, immune system function, mood and more, especially viewing sunlight in the early part of the day. - I don’t suggest this method! I do, however, suggest everyone view sunlight for 10-30min minimum each morning, sans sunglasses (glasses & contacts OK). Don’t stare at the sun, ever. Blinks protect your eyes. - We have several episodes related to the science of light and how to use light to promote mental health and physical health based on science-supported protocols. You can find them all in our “Using Light for Health” episode found at hubermanlab.com (link also in bio). - Everything is timestamped so you can navigate to the particular topics most of interest to you in thar episode. - Meanwhile, please put your questions in the comments section below this post and as always, thank you for your interest in science! - Photo: @historyphotographed - @hubermanlab @stanford.med @stanford @nihgov @nimhgov @nih_nccih @societyforneuroscience @cellpress - #neuroscience #science #ciencia #neurociencia #nutrition #brain #neuroplasticity #sun #babies #kids #health #history #mentalhealth #circadian #physicalhealth
