Repost from @younggiftedblackart • Congratulations to @patrongallery on their new location at the site of the Alvin Theatre in Chicago’s West Town gallery district. Originally built in 1914, this structure was the site of two pioneering theatre corporations integral to perfecting the “palace” theatre concept in the early 20th century. On view now in this historic building which exemplifies the gallery's commitment to Chicago's diverse art community, #SamuelLeviJones' (@slevijones) solo show features the YGB artist's new "pulp works." Within these paintings, tactile fields of color comprise pulverized law books, encyclopedias, and medical research books. The title of the exhibition, "No color in the pages," is both a literal reference to the lack of color on a standard book page and suggests that the original texts do not include, nor were written for people of color. #YoungGiftedBlackArt
