Depression is not a choice. It is never a choice.
Most days aren’t easy and more often than not, i feel emotionally burnt out and numb. Some days i feel a lot.. it is like i’m living a double life or watching myself live in a parallel universe because i’m capable of showing people who i am as a totally different person, a loud, obnoxious person seeking comedic relief at any given moment when in reality, i can actually spend all my time in silence.
A lot of articles will tell you there are signs but the reality is that we are able to mask a lot of our emotions and inner demons, so you will never be able to tell.. which is why it is important for you to speak up.
The concept of “no one can help and YOU need to HELP yourself” in my opinion, is wrong. I believe that if you ever reach that point and you need help, ASK the people around. Ask your best friend, ask your relatives, ask anyone.. ASK ANYONE TO HELP YOU. let them remind you that you are loved, you are needed, that your life is precious, that it is worthwhile, that it has a greater meaning that anyone can fathom.
SPEAK UP.. for the love of God, SPEAK UP. speak up.. tell them you’re hurting.. tell them you’re in pain.. tell them it’s hard to breathe, tell them you’re tired and you cannot keep doing this anymore, tell them how you feel the weight of world on your chest, tell them you’re really tired, tell them... let them understand so they can help.
The path to recovery has been a long and excruciating journey but i found peace.. not in everyday but in little things.. i found peace.
