Last week, my grandfather "Pop Pop" Glenn Baker, graduated to heaven. Perhaps the greatest gift God gave me beyond salvation was 33.5 years on this earth with him. He served his nation well in the Air Force, his government well as a employee at the Pentagon, his daughter well as a devoted father, his wife of nearly 70 years as a loving husband, and his Saviour well during his 93 years on earth. And he was the best grandfather I could ever ask for. Every baseball game, every piano recital, every holiday, every and any occasion, my Mom Mom and Pop Pop were there. They showed me the closest thing there is on earth to the kind of unconditional love and grace that God has for his children. From my Pop Pop, I also learned my love for baseball, golf, Walt Disney World, sarcastic humor and practical jokes, and a million and one other things. Though we will shortly lay his earthly body to rest, we know that his recent sufferings were not worth comparing to the glory he is now experiencing in the presence of his Saviour. (Rom 8:18) We will miss you terribly, as will everyone you met, from your closest family to the many medical staff who served and Mom Mom over the last few years to the manager at the Frederick Golden Corral that you single-handedly helped keep in business. Well done good and faithful servant. Give Mom-Mom and extra big hug for me. I can't wait to join you, our loved ones, and your new found friends from ages past in singing the hymn of heaven one day.
