FUGAZI circa 1989 Washington D.C. at the Canadian Embassy. This is obviously one of my favorite bands of all time, and this is one of my favorite portraits of them. It may have been the first time we made posed pictures of Fugazi. Ian leaning in here trying to mimic Chuck Dukowski in my infamous “Palm Tree” image of Black Flag from 1982. This is just before a Dupont Circle, Positive Force show. Another photograph from this roll was used on the back of the Repeater album. This photo appears beautifully on the title page spread in our book “KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN - the fugazi photographs of glen E. friedman” - the book, over 100 pages, is all my best of FUGAZI that had not appeared in my other books, and a few that have, but really all the best i made with them from just before the band started, through to their last show on U.S. soil (Fort Reno, Washington D.C.). It’s got an incredible essay by Ian F. Svenonius @ian_f_svenonius that is a must read (as are all of his books for that matter). This book has been out of print for several years, but is now back in print via independent publisher @AkashicBooks and can be ordered from them now with 25% off at http://www.akashicbooks.com/author/glen-e-friedman/ (yes they are also the same people who re-published my DogTown book and published my layest book WHAT I SEE the Black Flag Photographs) or at Amazon.com if you must. This latest edition of the book also has some extra pages with a bonus, recent interview with Ian MacKaye and myself (certainly good for at least a laugh if nothing else 😉). If you love Fugazi or great FILM photography this book is a must have. #Fugazi #BrendanCanty #JoeLally #GuyPicciotto #IanMacKaye #KeepYourEyesOpen #WashingtonDC #Dischord #Punk #music #35mmFilm #Photography #Art #Film #notCapturesYouIdiot #compositions #creations #conciousness #PunkRock #meaningful @dischordrecords @fugazi_livearchive #BurningFlagsPress
