I lost my GoPro surfing in the sea but thanks to the kindness of strangers and the power of the internet it found it’s way back to me! It’s devastating when we lose things not just because of the practical hassle and expense of replacing it, but often the value the thing we’ve lost holds or represents to us. I had a very special week in Cornwall with my brother and his family, where I was looking after his dog, Hegley, in my van. Hegs and I have a special relationship and on the last night after fish and chips with the family, Hegs and I wandered back on the coast path on our own, soaking it all in. Enjoying the sea breeze, him sitting protectively next to me, the beautiful purple heather, the gorgeous golden hour glow... I took this photo with my GoPro and thought it truly captured this moment and the companionship we share. I was absolutely gutted when I lost my GoPro and realised the pictures and videos that had also sunk to the bottom of the sea. I kicked myself for all the ways I could have prevented this and tried to let it go... A week later I received a message that a lady had found my camera whilst rockpooling on her holiday, and through social media working at its best, she linked it to me. I believe in karma, paying it forward, positive energy, whatever you want to call it... but I never imagined it would work out this way and I’m very grateful it did!
