I love the #SISWIM family, and all of the beautiful and abundant women that make this community, media brand, and movement what it is.
I love having the conversation about limiting definitions of beauty with people, because "beauty" is so often downplayed by those around us to be this trivial concept that has no bearing on our lives.
Which is a very naive mindset to hold, if you ask me, because the value of the beauty industry - all beauty products and services globally- is UP from $483B in 2020 to $511B in 2021 — and with an annual compounded growth rate of 4.75% worldwide — it's predicted to exceed $716B by 2025. And $784.6B by 2027....
Meaning that the marketing messages that we hear and the standards of beauty that are dictated to us by this $500 BILLION DOLLAR INDUSTRY - are more tied to our core identities and foundational sense of self THAN EVER BEFORE.
Beauty is intrinsically tied to who we are, who we love, who will love us, and our ability to be accepted by others and even accept ourselves. To believe otherwise is blind and myopic.
I love being aligned with brands that rewrite one size fits all beauty and help eradicate standards that apply to the few.
