“The reflections of the moon on one thousand rivers are from the same moon: the mind must be full of light.”Hung Tzu-Ch’eng - - - In a project in the Algarve, art and light offer inspiration. In a main sitting room, works of art from different periods and different parts of the world come together. At left, a small untitled work from 1960 by Günther Uecker was originally a gift from the artist to his friend, the Belgian painter Jef Verheyen. Resting atop an eighteenth-century oak chest of drawers is an Italian marble bowl from the 1800s. Presiding in the center is Canon Picture (1957) by Gutai master and cofounder Shozo Shimamoto (1928–2013). On the opposite side of the doorway is a fragment of bronze drapery (Greek, fourth–third century, BCE), originally part of the lower half of a life-sized sculpture of a charioteer. The play of light and shadow, and the deep folds of the draped textile enhance its verticality. - - - Photo: @lazizhamani for Living With Light (@flammarioninternational ) - - - #axelvervoordt #axelvervoordtdesign #guntheruecker #shozoshimamoto #livingwithart
