EMPOWERED: having the knowledge, confidence, means, or ability to do things or make decisions for oneself. So why does this matter when it comes to your birth experience? Because the opposite of empowered is disempowered. The opposite of empowered means you’ve given your power to someone else in the experience that was designed to strengthen you and show you your power as a mother more than anything else. And more than anything else if I could change one thing in the birth world, it would be that every birthing mother feel empowered, because she deserves to. If you want a positive, empowered, transformative birth experience it is up to YOU, and no one else. Knowledge is power. Fear can be eliminated through knowledge. Confidence comes with knowledge. Some of my best advice for future mothers...it’s never too late to start your research. Hear all sides of every issue so you can find what feels like truth to you (because it can be tricky to navigate). So you can weigh the risk vs the reward for yourself. So you can make INFORMED decisions. It starts with birth and then carry’s into motherhood and just goes on and on. It’s never too late to un-learn and re-learn. I try to do it every single day 😌 Stay open and follow your intuition, and know there are hundreds of thousands of mothers doing the same things alongside you and who have done the same thing before you.
