The grass is always greener on the other side. This is true. It’s scientifically proven. When we stand up straight on our little patch of grass and we look over where the next person stands, the angle of our visual field will show their grass slightly from the side which makes the green seem more vibrant and the grass fuller. However if we look down on our own patch of grass, we look at it from the top and we see all the dirt, shadows and rough patches that are hiding under the green. How much green we see is literally a question of perspective. But if we slow down, take a breath and be here in our rough patch of grass for a bit without the panic of comparison, we can observe all the life in the dirt beneath us enfolding. We can see how the dirt is fruitful soil providing a nutritious environment for a multitude of organisms to thrive and for whom it is their whole world, busy exploring its possibilities. We can feel how it grounds us and we might even find a wildflower here and there. If we are always focused on the ‘there’, we will never be ‘here’. We will never be present but always somewhere else where we are not. And where we are not we cannot be ourselves. We cannot find ourselves in ‘there’ onto which our perspective let’s us project all our jealousy and fears. But we can be here now. We can look at the ground we are standing on and feel the fruitful soil of who we are right here and now. And then we can start watering it and let it grow where it wants to grow. With us in it. Being grounded like that we can lay down on our grass and see how our perspective changes looking at it up close from the side. We see that our grass too is full and green from another angle and that there are probably many who envy us for it without seeing the dirt. And with this knowledge, we can meet the others on their rough patches. We can see their dirt they are ashamed of. And we can sit with them as we sat with our own dirt and maybe point out a wildflower here and there for them to see. - MODEL: @brittneycarbone MAKEUP: @makeoversbybrandy #model #beauty #fit #blackandwhite #monochrome #desert #water
