We enjoyed the 4th Annual Afro Carib Festival and all the festivities leading up to the event. 🌴✨ Here is a mini dump from our weekend in Ft. Lauderdale: 1.) Ian and I arriving to the 4th Annual Afro Caribbean Festival in Miramar 2.) Attempting to play the steel drum at Island Space Caribbean Museum, a Black-owned museum in Plantation, FL and America’s only Caribbean Heritage Museum. How did I do for my first time? 3.) What we ordered at Just Spoons, a black owned restaurant in Plantation, FL. This is called “The Champ” and it has curry shrimp and grits, cajun fried chicken, strawberry french toast, and a sausage egg and cheese donut sandwich. 4.) Ian and I enjoying dinner and drinks at Brandon Bistro, a Black-owned restaurant in Pembroke Pines, FL 5.) No, but seriously how good do these drinks look from Brandon Bistro, so good! 6.) Learning about the origins, evolution & influence of Jamaican music at the Island Space Caribbean Museum. 7.) Watching DJ’s battle at the Pre-show event for the Afro Carib Festival. 8.) Jerk chicken, rice and peas, and cabbage ordered from one of the many food trucks at the Pre-Show event for the Afro Carib Festival. This needed a space on my feed. 9.) Watching the performances at the Afro Caribbean Festival 10.) Ian and I at the Renaissance Fort Lauderdale West, a Black owned hotel in Plantation, Florida, before heading to brunch Ian and I lived in South Florida for over 13 years, so this is a second home to us. Our first apartment together was in the Ft. Lauderdale area, so it was so nostalgic going back and staying around the corner from our first apartment. This was the first time attending the Afro Carib Festival. We are looking forward to it next year! ✨Have you heard about the Afro Carib Festival in Ft. Lauderdale?
