In 2013, Camilo José Vergara selected the Library of Congress to be the permanent home for his photographic archive. He uses photography to “track time” and makes us look closely at how America’s cities have changed through the years. One spot he's revisited again and again: The view of Lower Manhattan from the Manhattan Bridge. The first of these shots, taken in November 1979, features the World Trade Center towers. The next is a smoky scene from September 11, 2001, then the Tribute in Light in September 2010 and a completed One World Trade Center in August 2020.
