Pretty certain if you’re following our page you didn’t need to be told this BUT just in case you missed it, turns out it’s important to get our kids (if we want them to grow up to be healthy functional adult humans) off their Xbox / Smart devices and down the beach - AND here’s another shocking revelation that’s not in the story - it’s good for them to get a healthy amount of UV (* “a healthy amount” will vary according to your child’s age/skin type/geographical location/time of the day/year)they should not be getting sunburnt and we recommend to avoid this you take them either early in the morning or late in the afternoon and if you plan to be out at peak UV times then they need hats, UV protected clothing and sunscreens with quality ingredients - as not all sunscreens are created equal

Posted @withrepost • @abcnews_au Childhood days spent on the beach, or around rivers, can have significant benefits for our mental health and wellbeing in adulthood, according to a study.
That study found that individuals who recalled childhood experiences in blue spaces — such as coasts, rivers and lakes — placed greater value on natural settings and revisited them as adults.
More than 15,000 participants across 18 countries were surveyed for the study, which was published in the Journal of Environmental Psychology by researchers at the University of Exeter.
The study's lead author, Valeria Vitale, a PhD candidate at Sapienza University of Rome, said their findings suggested that "building familiarity and confidence in and around blue spaces during childhood may stimulate an inherent joy of nature".
However, not everybody has positive memories of being near a body of water.
In the year to June 2022, across Australia, 339 people drowned in floods, rivers, pools, dams and seas, a report by the Royal Life Saving Society and Surf Life Saving Australia revealed.
Co-author of the study, Dr Leanne Martin, says the solution to this is swimming lessons.
