Especially when it comes to contraception, asking questions may help women get the information they need. It’s important to understand the different contraceptive options that are available. Women can discuss their health background, routine/schedule, and review the considerations listed in the video with a doctor to help narrow down what may be an appropriate contraceptive method for them.
Women can discuss contraception in the doctor’s office or via a telemedicine visit and ask how each method works. Some of my patients also find it helpful to write down their specific questions and concerns to reference during their appointment so they don’t forget or overlook anything.
I encourage all women to proactively speak with their doctor about their options and make sure they have a good understanding before making a decision.
