If I can offer one piece of advice to the new parents out there it’s this, be there for bath time. It’s easily one of my favorite things to help out with. He’s peaceful, playful, content, and happy. And there’s something about your toweled up, soaking wet kid clinging to you that just melts the heart. More importantly, it’s just one of those small bonding times to talk about your day with your kid. For me, talking about my day to Benjamin has helped me to recognize when my thoughts or actions weren’t quite in line with my ethics and values and serves as a way to calibrate my future actions because if I’m uncomfortable telling my son about something I thought or felt I damn sure have no business allowing those thoughts and feelings any space in my head.
