They said it would be dusty, hot, and rigorous at times, and perhaps a life altering once in a lifetime experience that would take me out of my very privileged life for a moment and give me interesting perspective. I was skeptical.....so for whoever is interested here it is... For me it was a visual stimulus that would be hard to put into words, a peek into what landing on mars might look like 200 years from now in city full of artists and freaks, beauty and fierce mother nature, wealth and poverty. Everyone seemed to be on some sort of quest for self discovery or spiritual release or awakening. I imagine that many leave behind a part of themselves that they hate..to be in the moment.. free to tap into their hidden exhibitionist and extraordinary inner child and be whoever it is they might bury a little in the time-clock punching world we all live in. Yes this IS a life changing thing to witness and honestly at times scary and weird. Most importantly it was a reminder to let go a little more of the idea of who I think others should be, let go of who i think i should be. So i left the Burn with much more than a bloody nose from the dry dusty heat, blisters on my ankles from walking and riding in thick sand for 3 days...i left with a deeper acceptance i didn’t have going into the desert and for that i would highly recommend that if you ever get the chance...go. 🖤 #blackrockcity
