We built the little greenhouse on Shiloh Farm by upcycling the windows from the barn on my family farm in Kansas. I love that it is made from upcycled and repurposed materials. I especially love that it reminds me of my childhood home every time I walk past it. We worked hard on that little farm back in Kansas. We had daily chores to be done every day no matter if it was a weekday or a Saturday. No matter if it was 72 and sunny or -4 and blustery. In summer we cut wood as a family to then haul it in the house all winter as our heat source. We washed our dishes by hand and did so every evening (never ever a dish in the sink!). Our (affordable, often second hand or even handmade) clothes were hung out to dry on a line that dad built and there was a method to perfectly wrinkle free results. Mom cooked three proper meals per day. Not fancy, but not from a package. When something broke, we fixed it (ourselves) rather than replacing it. When an animal was sick, we “doctored it”. We didn’t take shortcuts or do things “the easy way”. I wouldn’t change a thing. #values #thereisnoshortcuttoanyplaceworthgoing #workhardstayhumble #family #upcycle #reuse #greenhouse #upcycledgreenhouse #iwoudntchangeathing #workethic #ifitisworthdoingitisworthdoingright #shilohfarm1823
