Here are three tips to help you formulate your reds easier! 1) I find the biggest problem stylists have when it comes to formulating for reds is they don’t know what to mix! When your client shows you an inspo pic the first thing you should do is determine what tones you see example - red / copper / red & violet. Sometimes you will see one tone and sometimes you’ll see two tones! 2) The brighter you want your clients hair to be I suggest you add more additives! Additives are pure pigment that you can add into your formula that will help your Tone direction that you wanna see when you’re finished and the more you out of it the brighter your colour will become! 3) instead of pre-lightning your clients hair try using a higher developer! Even if your client is a level four you could use a 30 volume to bump her natural instead of using bleach! This will help your longevity of your colour from not feeding so fast! It also helps you with easier/ quicker maintenance appointments & it will also help with keeping your clients hair nice and healthy!
