BIPOC Women in Solidarity March, 3/27/2021 , organized by me and Kiara Williams. [ @itskiarawilliams ] Hosted by Sanitation Nation [ @sanitationation ation] and Warriors in the Garden [ @warriorsinthegarden ], with Freedom March [ @freedommarchnyc ] and Stonewall Protests [ @thestonewallprotests ] , this march birthed a new era and perspective for the call to End Asian Hate - with intersectional, youth led leadership. My first march, organized and led by me, a Korean-American 22 year old activist, model, student, with Kiara Williams from Warriors in the Garden and Qween Jean [ @qween_jean ] , who is a leader of The Stonewall Protests that takes place EVERY THURSDAY at The Stonewall Inn. Kiara is a 21 year old activist, writer, and co-founder of Warriors in the Garden - a leading collective of the NYC BLM movement this summer. We had 12 activist voices, 5 Asian women [ @Jeanniejaypark , @katxchen , @intersectional.abc , @southpaw_jess , @w0wjess ], 1 non-binary, queer Asian sex worker [ @sammykims ], 2 Black women [ @theniawhite , @itskiarawilliams ] , 1 Black man who runs security team [ @biggs_deh_vibaa ] , 2 Black queer men [ @nahrebel + @osse2021 ], and 1 Black trans woman [ @qween_jean ]- all come together in the face of the Atlanta tragedy and Asian hate crimes to shed light on how the fight is intersectional, and how we cannot fight together until we create true solidarity. And that’s what we did. The strength and unity cultivated when BIPOC women came together in the fight for our liberations, in the face of our shared pain, struggle, and fight against white supremacy was revolutionary, and the birth of a fresh, new, powerful coalition of BIPOC communities aligning together in the NYC grassroots sphere. And for the first time in my life, marching with my BIPOC communities this Saturday who are just as hungry for justice as I am, chanting “end Asian hate” with my Black brothers and sisters in my hometown, Koreatown - I believe it.
