I was not going to miss out on seeing David. For some reason, of all the things in the world to marvel over, David just called to me. Of course now I can say I feel called as an artist, seeking something classically beautiful and made with incredible detail and determination, but the truth is, I’ve always felt like I had to see David with my own eyes. I don’t know- maybe that feeling was telling of the whole ‘being an artist’ to come. But when I started planning my trip to Italy, it was intended to be Venice and Rome. I was selling my art to pay for the trip, so it was going to be brief because I didn’t know how much I could afford. And then when I realized hey.. I always wanted to see David... there was no way I was going to be that close and not visit! The whole trip ran so smoothly.. except for the day I was supposed to visit Galleria Dell’Accademia. Originally, I had a ticket for the last hour of the museum, but my train had a delay the resulted in sitting on the tracks in the middle of a field in rural Italian countryside for hourssss, just watching the clock knowing I was missing David. And with a tight itinerary, only one night in Florence, I didn’t think I’d be able to see David at all now. Sitting on the train I bought another ticket for first thing in the morning, and hour before I had to leave to get back on the train to Rome. And you know- sometimes things work out for the better! It went from a ticket at the end of the day, sure to be chaotic and full of crowds.. to the opening time slot.. and I got to experience seeing David in an empty, quiet room.. still sleepy from the early morning. Seeing David was a dream. Here are some of my favorite photos I took that day! ✨ #travellovers #thingstosee #placestovisit #floranceitaly #david #michelangelo #wanderlusttravel #chritsmasinitaly #michelangelosdavid #galleriadellaccademia #firenze
