Types of motivation for the ADHD brain: interest/ passion!! 🔥 Neurodivergent folks are motivated by different things that neurotypical people. Neurotypical people can think “I should do that” and then go and complete that task no problem, whereas neurodivergent folks can genuinely WANT to do a task, but still struggle to initiate it. Our brains don’t respond to “should’s” - which also might be why telling yourself “I should get my finances together” won’t actually help you start 😅 Here are 4 types of motivation that might work better for you: 1️⃣ pressure/ urgency 
 Motivation as a result of the pressure or sense of urgency you feel around that task.
 This pressure can come from yourself or others. It can also be time pressure (like a deadline) or financial pressure (like late fees) 2️⃣ interest/ passion 
 Motivation as a result of being excited and interested in that task.

If you can easily engage + focus on tasks that interest you, but struggle to even initiate tasks that don’t, you might benefit from interest/ passion motivation. 3️⃣ competition/ challenge Motivated by the idea of winning something or beating someone 
 This type of motivation usually either works really well or doesn’t work at all for neurodivergent folks. Personally, I love a good competition 😈 (in the right setting) 4️⃣ novelty/ play 
 Motivated by tasks that are shiny and new 
 Your brain wants to explore, learn and grow, and you get a hit of dopamine when you start new and exciting tasks.
