Tofino is situated on the tip of the Esowista Peninsula, within the traditional Ha-Houthlee of the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nations (pronounced klaw-oh-kwee-awt) and their Tribal Parks. The Ha-Houthlee occupies Tofino, Meares Island, Long Beach, and extends to Sutton Pass, pictured here. On the eve of the second National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we continue to take time to listen to the stories of residential school survivors, to honour the many children who never returned home, and to learn how to effect change that benefits all.
