#49, Miss Peru, reporting for interview 🎤 Looking back to this photo I had no idea I was about to win the Ms. Universe 2021 title in a few days time. I just knew I was going to do my best and project all of my confidence and hit on each intricate part of my training that I had within me. I was pleased to walk away with an almost perfect interview score, second only to my swimsuit runway score which was only 4/10ths of a point away from a perfect 10 across all 40 judges. I was so surprised and so grateful when I saw my scores, reflective of my hard work and diligent training with @natalieglebova & @therefineryacademy Miss India Team. 🥹 There have been a few people in my life who "don't get it" when it comes to pageantry - and that's fine. You should also consider that YOU may have hobbies, interests, and preferences that I don't understand or relate to. I don't court acceptance or approval; you're confusing me with someone controlled by the opinions of others. ☺️ I have a tendency to believe that those who are the loudest with sharing their disapproval of us (for doing something that is in no way impacting them at all) are those most triggered by what we're doing. More often than not the real message behind their words is: "I can't do what you're doing, so I don't want you to do it either." A beauty pageant is a sport like any other. No one would say "I don't understand why you'd do a decathalon?" to a man who is competing with other men by showcasing highly valued masculine traits like speed, strength, mental toughness, strategy, and endurance.... so why are you bothered when women train and compete on the grounds of a handful of highly valued feminine traits: poise, wit, communication skills, beauty, and grace? A beauty pageant is just a competition like any other sports competition. You wouldn't stop men from showcasing their strength at an Iron Man competition....so why are you so bothered by beauty pageants? The answer lies within your own self esteem issues. A beauty pageant is a competition like any other. It isn't an arena for judging a person's total inherent worth any more than the Super Bowl or World Cup is........ 🤔
