Disrupting the model minority myth with @i_d ❤️‍🔥 thank you for having me and my voice 🥀@alexandercodynguyen and I talked for hours on this day about what we hope for the future of Asian Americans. I hope that we can continue to be represented at all our various intersections of race, sexuality, gender - for the larger and beautiful expansive diaspora of all ethnicities and faces of every Asian American - in ultimate hopes of becoming human for the first time in a Western man’s world. I’m excited and honored to be apart of that. I hope we can keep expanding our horizons, decolonize our minds, and cross borders, as Yuri Kochiyama said. I hope we can not just stop Asian hate, but end it- and end the greater dehumanization of our collective humanity as people of color in this country. Being Asian, we’re so pushed and cornered. We’ve been use as a racial wedge, a juxtaposition, dehumanized to the core as the control experiment for white supremacy. Even as we rise up now to fight, it’s only expected that they’ll weaponize our identity, our humanity again - to divide us all, to strip others of their humanity - so that’s why we have to rewrite our own narrative that does not subscribe to the model minority myth. I hope we can learn through disrupting the stereotypes and myths imposed on us to love ourselves for who we truly are, and inspire with resilience - because no matter what they say or do, we have always and will always belong here.
