I always like to be positive and I really wish I could say that this was the best race of my life and that I achieved the goals I had set for myself, but that wouldn’t be the truth.
I had to a take a few days to process this one. I was no where near the time or place I wanted/truly believed I could get, and made far too many mistakes tactically in that final. However, while it’s always good and healthy to acknowledge your mistakes and find what you can do differently next time, it’s also important to take a step back and look at your season as a whole. If you told freshman year me that I would have gone sub 2, broken the national record, and medaled at worlds, I would have never believed you. So to let this one race define my entire season would be an injustice to the growth I have made as an athlete and person over these past four years. Despite the race, I truly am so incredibly blessed and grateful for getting the opportunity to travel the world, compete for team usa, make lifelong friendships with so many incredible athletes, and use this experience as a teaching moment for years to come! see you soon @stanfordxctf, but until then it’s time to take a BREAK!!
