205 miles + 35,000โ€™ elevation gain โœ… I did it! I beat the #Tahoe200 !! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ After 3 years of training for this race (first signed up 2019), seeing it cancelled twice from Covid + wildfires, myself getting Covid TWICE in the last 6 months, multiple crew + travel changes, I canโ€™t believe it finally happened, and I did it! We did it!! ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐ŸŽ‰ Finished in a time of 90:23:21 ๐Ÿคฏ For me, this was 2 separate races, 2 totally different memories, and I can barely remember them as one now. The first 50 miles were sunny shorts weather, friendly chats w/other runners, no issues, done in 15 hrs. The last 150 took me another 75 hrs, thru hail, wind, snow, freezing temps, a bear(!!), mostly w/out sight of other ppl, and felt more like a test of outdoor wilderness skills, willpower, and managing the body & mind. Out of 240 runners, over 100 DNFโ€™d ๐Ÿ˜ฎ My hardest challenges - sleep deprivation + GI issues for over half the race: Nausea ๐Ÿคข miles 50-65, ๐Ÿ’ฉ 100-190 (the last 10 miles were a dream ๐Ÿ˜). And to top it off, my body decided to surprise treat me with an early period๐Ÿฉธ at mile 135 (isnโ€™t stress supposed to delay it?! ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ). โ€œFunโ€ side note - when I reached the next aid station in bloody shorts I asked the medical volunteer if they had any pads. No, of course not... so they gave me a huge bag of gauze to figure it out. Sad, but much much better than nothing... ๐Ÿ™ I consider myself a super logical practical person (coder here) so I also canโ€™t believe I actually โ€œhallucinatedโ€ ๐Ÿ˜ณ Pine cones on the ground were shrimp tempura ๐Ÿค and I had whole conversations w/my pacers in my head... Feet super swollen + blistered. Face swollen. Hands bloody + swollen. But I made it to the finish.... ๐Ÿ˜ญ Thanks to crew+pacers @ewenku @cyn_chiu @hearyimroar , Andy. I would not have been able to finish this without you all ๐Ÿ™ And Shannon who surprised as extra crew! SOO proud of this all girl team ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ™ Thanks to @run_n_shoot for coaching me to the start line. Weโ€™ve proven that itโ€™s possible to live + train in NYC and participate successfully in a high altitude (6-9kโ€™) mountain 200miler. I am not the same runner as I was 3 years ago thanks to your help ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™ Will post more soon!!
