After texting a screenshot of an intimidating letter we got in our mailbox this morning to a neighbor, our Roseland, NJ community (including a city councilman and the Board of Education president?!) mobilized via FB groups and showed up at our home in an act of radical love and healing (turned block party). Our tiny city is a town in transition - many young & diverse families moving in and lifers moving out. The tension is palpable, to say the least. Despite a massive Trump ALTAR across the street from us since the 2020 election ("Let's Go Brandon" etc), our little pro-choice lawn signs were apparently a bridge too far for the neighborhood bullies. But while we were hoarding Nest Cams at Target, our neighbors were organizing. Today was one for the books, friends. I don't think we'll forget it as long as we live. Everything can feel so heavy and hopeless these days that it's easy to forget there's goodness and community all around you. And it galvanizes!
